LAYERING LIKE A PRO

Winter has well and truly settled in, but before you push your lightweight pieces to the back of your wardrobe, read on and see how you can style them for a warmer look. The art of layering can be a minefield, and unfortunately, there is no manual or step-by-step guide. But we've put together a few quick tips that will have you layering up a storm in no time!

1. Mixed Vibes
It's no secret that we love mixing prints (read here). And stripes and florals have to be our favourite prints to mix. Throwing on a summery scarf is the perfect way to make the most of your wardrobe all year round. Bright accessories are also a great way to liven up your darker winter layers.

Blazer: Cotton On / Sweater: H&M / Scarf: Portmans / Bag: Valleygirl / Oxfords: Rubi

2. Lumberjack Chic
For most, any mention of a flannel shirt probably brings to mind images of cut off denim shorts and cowboy boots, either that or lumberjacks logging down trees! But flannels are a mainstay in our wardrobe year round. They're an amazing layering piece under jackets, like this anorak, and even with the collar peeping over a sweater.
Anorak: Cotton On / Flannel: Cotton On / Jeans: Cotton On / Shoes: Singaporean brand

 3. Denim Darling
Seasonal trends come and go, but the good ol' denim jacket has managed to stay in favour with fashionistas the world over. This wadrobe staple is a lifesaver, making your sheer, lightweight blouses winter appropriate.

Denim Jacket: SES fashion / Blouse: Just Jeans / Tights: Cotton On /  Shoes: Rubi /
Rings: Lovisa / Necklace: Lovisa

4. Sweater Weather
Wearing a buttoned up shirt, like a chambray, underneath a sweater is officially our favourite combination when it comes to layering in the cooler months. Get the geek-chic style with the preppy sweater-over-collared-shirt ensemble.
Sweater: Gap / Chambray: Target / Tights: Cotton On / Boots: Miss Shop / Rings: Lovisa

    1. Thanks Paola! We've been loving this look lately. We bought the sweater when we were over in Japan from GAP. You can probably find a similar one on line somewhere. Let us know if you manage to track down one. We love ours so much, we might have to get another!

    1. We are loving the preppy style at the moment, and have been loving the collared shirt and sweater combination. As for layering in the warmer weather, chiffon pieces are perfect.
