RENEWED HOPE

As the saying goes "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". So when we heard that Philosophy had reformulated the cult favourites, Hope in a Jar, we were intrigued. Changing the formula of such well loved products can be risky, and while we haven't used the original range, we think Philosophy's gamble has paid off this time.

The Renewed Hope collection brings 5 new products to the table. According to Philosophy, the re-imagined range is made with "skin renewal technology" to hydrate and refine the skin's texture.

We started using the Renewed Hope in a Jar Eye* a few weeks back. The first thing that caught our eye was the interesting list of ingredients including a number of fruit extracts such as the fancy Evodia Rutaecarpa which is said to have strong anti-inflammatory properties. Philosophy is known for their innovative formulations, and this little pot is no exception. Of course like with any anti-aging products, we can't really say whether this does in fact reduce fine lines until further down the track, but for now, the hydration that this cream provides gets a big up vote from us! The whipped eye cream really helped to clear up a few post-winter dry spots. Before this jar, we were using one from Nivea which frankly did zilch! Like many on the market, it felt like nothing more than a regular moisturiser. The light white formula of this one is just the right consistency, not too diluted that it evaporates almost immediately and not too heavy either.

The original Hope in a Jar Moisturiser is has maintained cult status for years, so it's understandable that the Renewed Hope in a Jar moisturisers would be the most anticipated product from the new line. As something that holds a special place in many hearts, we were particularly eager to test out the new and improved formula. We've been using the Renewed Hope in a Jar Dry* which as the name suggests, is for drier skin types. The mosituriser features a few alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) including glycolic and citric acid which are known in beauty circles as key ingredients for brightening and improving the appearance of wrinkles and pores. We have sensitive skin and have not experienced any irritation or dryness, so if you're looking for something with AHAs but you have skin that is on the sensitive skin, then we definitely recommend you give this one a whirl. We haven't noticed any changes in our pores, but after a few days, our skin did actually look brighter! We prefer using this as our night cream to give it time to soak into the skin as it is a little thicker in consistency. While it is thicker than your regular moisturiser, this stuff delivers an incredible hydration punch without the heaviness you can get with other products. We will definitely be repurchasing this one!

We also snagged a tube of the Renewed Hope in a Jar Cleanser*, but we haven't had a chance to crack it open yet. If you  want to see our thoughts on this cleanser, let us know in the comments.

What are your thoughts on the renewed range?

  7. My mum has the philosophy cleanser and she loves it (you girls totally reminded me that I need to try that soon! :p)
I think the brand seems really interested and pretty well loved, the eye cream sounds awesome - I tend to stick to my sweet almond oil for night times and a budget one for the day, but the consistency of this has really intrigued me!
